Madalynn Moore and Baylee VanDyke recently competed at GIRL POWER GOES STATE at ASU-Newport. This competition celebrates and empowers young women in skilled trades by providing a platform to showcase their talents in design, engineering, and craftsmanship. With industry partners serving as judges, students competed in categories like laser, metal CNC, and multi-tool fabrication. Madalynn Moore placed 2nd in the Laser division with her maple plywood purse featuring living hinges and a hand-drawn, laser-etched design. To add a unique feature, she hand-strung the strap with glass beads. She won $100 and a pair of Beats Earbuds and will advance to the state competition on February 26 to compete against top students from across Arkansas! Baylee VanDyke also represented Armorel with a modern, custom phone charging and jewelry stand made from clear acrylic. She personalized it by engraving her name and filling it in with red for contrast! We are so proud of these talented young women who showcased their skills last week. Good luck at state, Madalynn!
